Weight loss tips that work fast and don't starve us, don't we all need them?
Weight loss is one of the biggest struggles for most of us. Blood group diet to calorie counting, I have done it all. I like to eat in moderation and staying fit has been important to me since years. After trying various diets from various nutritionists around India, I will explain weight loss like I have understood it and give you the tips that have become habits for me.
Eat less doesn’t mean Don’t eat. If I tell you that there will be no water available in your house tomorrow, you will fill all the buckets, store extra drinking water in the refrigerator and make sure you have enough water in the house to cover your needs. The body works in the same way, starvation is understood as no supply of food and the body stores every little particle of energy in the thighs, love handles, butt, stomach, arms and even the face as FAT.
Eat small meals every two hours. An apple, a low calorie biscuit, a portion of salad with a low calorie dressing can all make for a small meal.
Skipping Breakfast means you skipped weight loss: While you are sleeping, you are using all the energy that you got from your dinner. When you wake up the body is on low energy and needs that kick that you get from a well balanced breakfast. The energy you get from breakfast is used through the day and the chances of over eating through the day go fairly down.Make breakfast an everyday habit and watch yourself lose weight over time
Don’t eat after 7PM but only if you sleep by 11PM: This tip works like magic. If your last meal is at 7 PM, you have got to be asleep by 11 PM. If you sleep at 2 AM, the hunger pangs will keep you up all night and also push you into eating something really fattening.
While socialising or going out to parties, the don't eat after 7 pm rule goes out of the window. To avoid breaking your rule eat a little snack before you leave for a party and carry a low calorie snack in your bag, also learn how to say no, socialise and still be healthy.
Try to follow the 'Early to eat, early to sleep' rule of weight loss till it becomes a lifestyle change to see permanent changes.
If you eat daily, why do you not exercise daily: I learnt this from Lisa Sarah John, a Bangalore based dietician. Moderate exercise like walking, light bicycling should be done daily. What I mean is, some sort of physical activity should be a part of your daily life. The 4 day in a week workout routine is for people who are hard core gym enthusiasts and are doing other intensive work out. For people like me who go for a morning walk or mild bicycling, there should be no break. If one eats daily, mild exercise should be done daily!
Cheat Day doesn’t mean gorging on Oily Food and Deserts: Once in a while, your dietician might allow you a cheat day, but Cheating means a mild flirt, not a full blown affair with calorie enriched food. While i was following a plan by befabulous diets, i learnt that going all the way with deep fried food and alcohol will back track you and all the weight you lost in the week will be back in a day.
